Janet Yale

President and CEO

Janet Yale is the president and CEO of the Arthritis Society (Canada) a role she has held since 2012. Janet is active in the Canadian health sector, as Chair of the Arthritis Alliance of Canada and as out-going of Chair of the Health Charities Coalition of Canada and as past Chair of the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

Prior to joining the Arthritis Society Janet had a long history in telecommunications, having previously served as executive vice president at TELUS and the president and CEO of the Canadian Cable Television Association. Ms. Yale also served as a Director General at the CRTC and as General Counsel at the Consumers Association of Canada. She is recognized as a leader in the not-for-profit sector, and currently serves on the boards of Samara, the Ottawa Art Gallery and Business for the Arts.

In addition to her role as President and CEO of the Arthritis Society, in June 2018, Janet was appointed by the Federal Ministers of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada and Canadian Heritage to chair a special panel to review the communications legislative framework in Canada, in recognition of her extensive experience and leadership in the telecommunications industry.

Janet is a lawyer and economist by training, fully bilingual (English & French), a keen marathon runner and passionate about health, the arts and business. Janet is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Golden and Diamond Jubilee Medals and has received numerous awards for her business and community leadership.
