Our Marketing & Communications Team:  

Our talented Marketing & Communications team is made up of creative professionals with subject-matter expertise in disciplines including corporate communications, media relations, digital engagement, social media, graphic design and writing. They showcase and increase awareness of our critical cause and the incredible work we do, tell impactful stories and ensure arthritis is positioned as a top 5 health concern.

Purpose of Role: 

Arthritis Society Canada is looking to bring a Photographer/Videographer on board to join its Marketing and Communications team. This is a new role for someone who brings the expertise, experience and equipment to begin building something great together as we venture into a new era of content creation.

The Photographer/Videographer is responsible for the creation of compelling multimedia using video and photography to help raise awareness, build profile and recognition of Arthritis Society Canada through a consistent, high quality and inspiring visual experience across all channels. The Photographer and Videographer contributes to and works within the national marketing and communications team, in line with the Mission and Revenue Development goals of the organization. 

In line with industry norms, the successful candidate will be required to have access to their own professional-grade equipment, which they are familiar, comfortable and adept at using, including cameras, lenses, lighting gear, and audio recording devices.

Key Accountabilities:

  • As part of the Marketing and Communications team, develops video and photography content through the visual translation of briefs provided by Revenue Development, Mission and Fund development.
  • Serves as principal photographer and videographer for all Arthritis Society Canada activities and needs (digital marketing, events, fundraising initiatives, activities, meetings, etc.,).
  • Creates engaging multimedia assets to be deployed across all available channels, to help enhance the organization's reach and impact.
  • Proactively identifies and responsively supports opportunities for new and refreshed original, rich media content and works across teams to deliver on strategic and timely outputs of related content.
  • Maintains integrity of branding principles consistent with Arthritis Society Canada’s brand identity, its mission, annual goals and objectives.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with the team to project manage all video and photography requests.
  • Maintains current knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in relation to photography and videography as well as emerging marketing mediums.

Education & Experience:

  • Diploma or Degree in Media Production, Video Production, Photography or related.
  • 6+ years of progressive photography and video production experience gained from a similar environment is an asset.
  • Experience creating video reels for multi-channel usage; high quality photo content; event video coverage and photography, etc.
  • Ability to manipulate photographs and stock art for inclusion in web and print materials.
  • Ability to edit video files for inclusion in web, social and email.
  • High computer literacy, including advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products, Adobe Creative Suite (including Premiere Pro and After Effects), Final Cut Pro and other leading-edge video and photography software.
  • Strong communication skills; speaks, presents, listens and writes in a clear, thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.
  • Proven ability to organize, prioritize and work simultaneously on multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment, dedication and accountability and follows through on all projects, goals aspects of one's work.
  • Positive "can do" attitude, and desire to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Creative and innovative visualization skills – able to take an idea from concept to reality in new and unique ways through video and photography.
  • A willingness to keep apprised of new developments in video production for example: disability compliance, digital advancements, web capabilities to capitalize on the emerging trends and capabilities.


Working Conditions 

  • Your position is Designated. This means you will work at least 2 days a week from our Toronto office and the rest of the days remotely/from home. The exact days you are required to work from our office will be determined by your supervisors. This will include in-person meetings, events, retreats and other opportunities to connect and collaborate. 
  • Requirement to be flexible and work additional hours to support business needs, where necessary.
