Erase the Pain

What is the Arthritis Friendly Product program?

The Arthritis Society has created a program to encourage manufacturers to design products and packaging that are easy to use for people living with arthritis.

Who decides whether a product is easy to use?

Manufacturers wishing to have their products deemed easy to use submit them to an independent research firm associated with Georgia Institute of Technology. Each product is tested in a variety of ways, including a panel of individuals living with arthritis who use the product and comment on its ease of use. Products may also be reviewed by TAS' Medical Advisory Committee. If a product receives favourable review, the manufacturer is invited to apply to TAS to be part of the Arthritis Friendly Product program and to use the "Arthritis Friendly" Logo commendation for those products that have been tested.

TAS does not determine the therapeutic value of products classified as "food or drugs" or other arthritis treatment modalities. The Arthritis Friendly Product logo indicates ease of use only and is not intended as a general product endorsement. Participating manufacturers make an annual contribution to The Arthritis Society in support of our mission.

Where do I make recommendations/questions?

If you know of a product that you would like to see as an Arthritis Friendly Product, or have any questions about the program, please write to: Complaints about individual products should be directed to the manufacturer.

The Arthritis Society provides leadership and funding for research, advocacy and solutions to improve the quality of life for Canadians affected by arthritis.
